                                     I have some drawings (as yet in the initial stages) which I should like you see and approve before completion.

I have been confined to my rooms for some time past with a bad cold – hence the delay.

Presumably to the publisher Grant Richards. The date is not in his distinctive script of the rest of the letter, but the 4th of February 1911 was indeed a Saturday. This early letter suggests some kind of previous contact, almost indicating a commission. From the date he was still at St John’s Wood Art School (his Venus drawing was published in the Art Chronicle January 1911 attributed to A. E. Odle of the St John’s Wood School of Art). Nothing of course came of it.
